Last week on Project Runway All Stars 2014 the designers all had a chance to travel to London to meet the Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson and they used this trip as inspiration. The look they had to create was a winter look and at the end of the day, one designer went home on Project Runway All Stars season 4. Tonight on Project Runway All Stars 2014 the designers will be taking a gamble and they will roll the dice to find out what kind of look they will be creating. They will also be rolling a dice to find out what materials they will be using, literally. This could be a very interesting challenge because some designers seem to be working within their comfort zones and tonight’s challenge might force them out of those zones. Tonight the designers will roll two dice to find out what event they will be designing a look for and what kind of fabric they will be using. Fabio’s fabric is denim and he is doing a masquerade ball, Sonjia is designing for a bachelorette party and using brocade and Sam is using brocade for an award ceremony look. Michelle got lace for a gallery opening and Justin got silk for a gallery opening.
Helen got brocade for an award ceremony like Sam and Gunnar will be using brocade for a masquerade ball. Jay got denim for a Sunday brunch and last but not least, Dmitry got velvet for a gallery opening. The designers are not sketching and going to get their fabric at Mood. They have one day for this challenge, this could be very interesting!
Sonjia and Fabio are having a conversation about the pink fabric she picked out, it isn’t the right kind of fabric. She is supposed to be working with brocade, but the fabric she is using is just a textured fabric. She isn’t very happy about this news from him, you would think that she would be grateful for him letting her know before she ended up finishing the look.
Zanna is now in the work room and she is giving her critiques to the designers and most of them have some really great concepts, just a few minor flaws. After the critiques the models come in for their fittings and while Jay is fitting his model Helen goes up to him to tell him that his look is more “club girl” than “Sunday brunch” and this doesn’t go over well with him, it actually makes him really mad.
At the end of the day, all of the designers still a lot of work to do in finishing up their looks and they are all racing against the clock to get it done. The looks are coming along really nicely, I don’t know which looks I like this week and which ones I don’t. To be honest, I’m not blown away by any of them this week. I think Sonjia really pulled her look off considering she had to start over.
The guest judge tonight is Michael Bastian and the winning design will be worn by Alyssa Milano at a photo shoot after the baby is born! The first look on the runway is Sonjia, I really like this, it came together for her really nicely, it’s a little short though. Justin’s dress is really pretty too, I love the print and Gunnar’s look is also really nice, but I hate the pleats.
I’m glad that Helen decided to put her slit in the front instead of the back, it looks amazing. I love Dmitry’s jumpsuit as well, but I feel like the pant should have been a little longer and maybe a little more wide leg. Jay’s look isn’t a Sunday brunch outfit, it’s a club dress and I hate the fabric that Sam used. I don’t like the pink denim Fabio used in his look at all. I have mixed feelings about Michelle’s lace look.
Jay, Dmitry and Sam are safe this week, that leaves Michelle, Helen, Sonjia, Gunnar, Fabio and Justin in the top and bottom this week! Helen is getting bad reviews about her dress, Sonjia got really great reviews about her dress, I do like it a lot and Justin got some rough reviews about his design too.
Gunnar is getting some mixed reviews about his dress, he is told that it is unflattering and Michelle got great reviews about her look, one of the negatives she got was the padded hips, but they really loved the way that she worked the color combination. Fabio is told that this dress didn’t look like denim, no one really likes it because of the color and they hated the styling and the use of the pearls as a head piece instead of a necklace.
Helen is safe tonight, Michelle and Sonjia are in the top and the winner is Sonjia this week! Not bad for a last minute design! Justin had a low score, but is also safe this week, that leaves Fabio and Gunnar, two of my favorites! The designer going home tonight on Project Runway All Stars 2014 is Gunnar!
